CPCS is a card scheme to prove the skills of plant operators. It is based on a combination of professional competence and health and safety awareness – two essential qualities for operating plant.
The card is required to be able to operate most categories of plant on site. Put simply, it is the main standard for plant operators. After passing your test on your chosen plant machinery, you will be able to upgrade your red card (lasting 2 years) to a full competent blue card (lasting 5 years), by completing an NVQ in Plant Operations.

From 22nd August 2024, CPCS renewals will no longer be carried out at PearsonVue test centres, instead they will be delivered by the NOCN Hub. Employers and card holders can book the CPCS Renewal CPD eLearning module via https://nocn.org/login
